Goodbye Summer, Hello Fall! 2018 Autumn Bucket List

Goodbye Summer, Hello Fall! 2018 Autumn Bucket List

If we are saying ‘goodbye’ to Summer and ‘hello’ to Fall, you can count me in 100%. I love Fall because it means cooler weather and fire pits, comfy clothes, changing leaves, and being outdoorsy without instantly sweating through your clothes!

Being a stay-at-home-mom, every season I love to put together a bucket list for myself and my son to make our way through that coming season to keep us busy. Every now and then we tackle a few list of items on the weekend and let my husband join in on our fun 🙂 Some bucket list items are the same from season to season (i.e. visit new parks), but there are season-specific things that I look forward to with each changing season.

Check out my Autumn bucket list below, which is sure to be fun whether you have children or not:

  • Visit an Apple Orchard to hand-pick Apples

  • Take a Hay Ride

  • Visit a Pumpkin Patch to pick out your favorite pumpkin, then bring it home and decorate or carve it.

  • Attend a local Fall Festival

  • Visit three new parks

  • Make Caramel Apple Slices

Instead of normal caramel apples, which are huge and sometimes a pain to eat, slice the apple away from the core in about 1-inch slices, or thick enough to stay on the stick you are using. dip in chocolate and decorate as you normally would! You can also try wedges as well, if they are more your style!)

  • Watch the 1990’s movie “Hocus Pocus” (PG)

  • Visit the North Carolina Zoo

  • Make a Fall Craft

Google ‘Fall Crafts’ to get an abundance of ideas, then try to plan a new craft for each week! Also, check out our DIY Kid-Friendly Decor and Crafts.

  • Build a Fire and make S’mores

Get adventurous with your s’mores by adding a peanut butter cup in the middle with the chocolate and marshmallow, or use apple slices instead of graham crackers to make your s’more slightly healthier. You could even do chocolate graham crackers, strawberries, marshmallows and Nutella for a whole new kind of s’more!

  • Take family pictures!

  • Watch the ‘Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade’

  • Play in the leaves

  • Visit Hill Ridge Farms

  • Go Trick-or-Treating

  • Visit the State Farmer’s Market

  • Tailgate at a Football Game

Whether you have tickets to the game or not, go tailgate with your friends and enjoy the cool autumn air, food and drinks!

Raven Rock State Park is the hidden gem on Harnett County. If you haven’t been, make sure to put this Park at the top of your bucket list!

  • Take a Family Bike Ride

  • Go on a Nature Scavenger Hunt

  • Set a weekly Family Walk

Setting aside time for the family should always be a priority. Whether it is the middle of the week or Sunday night, try to make it a point to have a family walk the same night each week. It will ensure that no one makes plans and it will give you time to get outside and enjoy the season together. You could even visit a new park for your weekly family walk and knock off two bucket list items at once!

Do you have any favorite fall activities that you and your family do every year? Let us know in the comments so we can add them to our list!
