Recently, on a sunny spring-like Saturday, the Raleigh Moms Blog team got together at the lovely Cannon Room in downtown Raleigh to mingle, munch and brainstorm how to better serve the moms in our community. We couldn’t resist sharing photos from the day, especially of the gorgeous Cannon Room and the delicious snacks and treats provided by our friends from La Farm Bakery , Carolina Kettle, and The Doodling Bug. These local favorites and well-known shops have been serving our readers for years and we were so excited to team up with them for our RMB retreat.
Take a look at the gorgeous venue, mouth-watering snacks and fun swag that was in store for our team.
Where We Gathered
The Cannon Room located at the top of the floor of the HQ Capital Club truly gave our team one of the most beautiful views of the downtown Raleigh scene. As an event and co-working space, it is designed to inspire all those who come to work, play and entertain. The Cannon Room offers panoramic views of the city with an elegant but modern vibe. Named after Isabella Cannon, Raleigh’s first female Mayor, this space is an elegant throwback with modern amenities. It’s beautiful 3,000 sqft space, panoramic views and original 1930’s art deco plasterwork was the perfect backdrop for our retreat. Thank you to our friends at The Cannon Room and HQ Raleigh for partnering with us and supporting small businesses and mompreneurs.
What We Enjoyed
We started the afternoon grazing and catching up a bit, then got down to brainstorming ways to refine and expand the content we strive to provide our readers – content that is local, inspiring and informative.
Thank you to La Farm Bakery a local favorite and authentic French Bakery in the heart of Cary provided a scrumptious platter of their signature breads that we sampled and enjoyed while we worked. We loved each artisan bread and knowing that it was crafted and baked by Master Baker Lionel Vatinet was so exciting! As our team munched away we each shared our own memories of visiting the La Farm Bakery cafe and shop for either a family meal or morning coffee with friends. Did you know that we’ve even had an opportunity to go behind-the-scenes to visit their newest state-of-the-art production facility in downtown Cary?
We loved every minute of being in this beautifully lit space-not to mention all the room and comfy seating!
Thank you to our friends at The Doodling Bug who treated each of our RMB Contributors to a very cute signature Flamingo magnet during our retreat. Did you know that flamingoes are a symbol of community and connection? This was a perfect reminder for our team to keep working towards growing our #momtribe within our Raleigh-area readers. The Doodling Bug is a boutique located in downtown Apex that features fabulous jewelry, accessories, home decor, and trendy clothing. This curated shop of fabulous fun will have you laughing and giggling throughout the store with all the funny sayings and treasures that speak to a woman’s heart and soul.
Munching on scrumptious snacks from local favorites here in the Triangle-area made our hearts and tummies very happy. Thank you to Carolina Kettle, makers of crispy, mouth-watering potato chips, for the variety of delicious bags of chips. Check out our Instagram post of us munching away. Carolina Kettle is made right here in Raleigh where they are known for their flavored chips inspired by real Carolina cooking. While this local favorite is selling great tasting chips they also believe in giving back to the community to fight hunger – five cents of every bag sold goes to support local food banks.
Special thanks to Frolic & Co. for photographing and catching those special moments during the retreat.
