Fun for Raleigh Families this Weekend: Lazy Daze, Jurassic Quest, End of Summer Celebration and more

Is it the last weekend before your kiddos start school next week? This might mean you’re holding on to every bit of summertime magic before school begins.  If you’re staying around town this weekend we’ve found some fun family-friendly events that all ages will enjoy.  From a Water Balloon game event,  a walking Dinosaur exhibit, the annual Lazy Daze Arts & Crafts Festival, an End of Summer Celebration and more.

Jurassic Quest

Friday, August 24th – Sunday, August 26th.  Raleigh Convention Center

This one is for those Dino Fans in your home. Explore the interactive Dinosaur exhibits with walking dinosaurs, dino-themed science stations, face painting, crafts, a dino bounce, fossil dig, and dino rides. Visit their website to purchase tickets and learn more about this event. 

North Hills Kids – Open Play

Friday, August 24th.  9:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. North Hills Commons, Raleigh

Get the wiggles out and enjoy being outside during this open play session on The Commons green filled with soft foam equipment and tumbling mats. 

Kids for Change End of Summer Celebration

Saturday, August 26th.  3:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m.  Durham Central Park

Celebrate Back to School and the end of summer with Families Moving Forward. Enjoy free family fun with activities, live music, and budget-friendly food trucks.

Blue Jay Garden Sampler

Saturday, August 25th.  2:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m.  Blue Jay Point County Park, Raleigh

Spend an afternoon in the Blue Jay Gardens. Check out the mini pond, composting area, pollinator garden and children’s garden. Also, enjoy other activities and programs running that day.  Cost: $1/per person. Activities are geared for ages 5 years and up.  Register in advance. 

Lazy Daze Arts and Crafts Festival 

Saturday, August 25th – Sunday, August 26th.  Downtown Cary

Visit this annual family-friendly festival featuring live music,  exhibits, food vendors, a Kids World & Play Zone, an artist gallery and much more.

Fuquay-Varina’s Downtown Food Truck Rodeo

Saturday, August 25th.  1:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m.  Centennial Square, Fuquay-Varina

This special event happens twice a year, once in the Spring and once in the Fall.  Come out and celebrate with lots of food trucks, children’s activities, and live music. Visit here to see what trucks will be attending. 

Holly Springs Children’s Business Fair

Saturday, August 25th.  11:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.  Holly Springs Towne Center

Kid entrepreneurs will showcase their entrepreneurial skills at this one-day marketplace. Check out the brands, products or services that these young entrepreneurs will be bringing to the marketplace.

Recreational Adventures: Water Balloon Games

Sunday, August 26th.  3:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m. Historic Yates Mill County Park, Raleigh

Stay cool with water balloon games for the family. Game equipment will be provided all you have to do is bring safe water-filled balloons to enjoy. Don’t forget your bathing suit and towel, too! FREE event for all ages.
