We’ve had a lot of winter weather this week which leaves me and my preschooler with a little cabin fever! The usual toys and activities are getting boring and we’re both finding ourselves looking for something new to do! So I’m getting a little creative this week with 5 inside activities to keep your kids entertained!
Whip up cookies, candies, breads, muffins and more! Whatever you like, but the trick is to the let the kids in on the fun! When you’re finished you can divide up the treats to share with neighbors, friends, or to send in to teachers and co-workers.
Bring out all the puzzles, board games, and cards in your closet! Jump from one game to the next. You could even create a chart and keep track of who wins what games.
Bring the outdoors in!
If the weather is too bad to go outside, bring it inside! We love to fill up our water table with snow and play in the kitchen! My son gets to enjoy the snow without worrying about him spending too much time in the cold. This works for rainy days too! Another alternative is to put rice or pasta in the water table for a little sensory play.
Trust me, I know. Homemade playdough sounds like a lot of work, but really it’s so easy and only takes a few minutes! Chances are, you have most of the ingredients in your kitchen already! Make a couple batches or divide up one batch to make two or three colors. This recipe is one of my favorites!
Host a movie day!
Pop some popcorn and serve special drinks (hot chocolate, anyone?) and have a movie fest! If your kids can’t agree on a movie, you pick! Featuring a favorite from your childhood is always a great way to introduce them to the classics!
