Do the long summer days have you feeling hot, hot, hot? Then boy do I have a treat for you! With summer officially in full swing, the best way to cool down is with some delicious ice cream! I’ve compiled a list of some of the coolest (no pun intended) ice cream spots in and around Raleigh and encourage you to try them all!
Located in Greystone Shopping Center, Raleigh
This is a personal favorite. Their menu is a mix of both seasonal and “forever” flavors. My son is a bit of a classic at heart and will always choose vanilla with sprinkles, but my favorite is the coffee bourbon. There are no words to describe this flavor. Just try it. Trust me.

This place is the real deal and has even received national attention from Food Network with their Cold Sweat ice cream, which is made from a variety of chili peppers and hot sauces. But don’t worry, they have other flavors also – more than 120 to be exact! (Insider Tip: This yummy destination is just a short drive from Raleigh and is totally worth it! Remember to bring cash.)

You can never go wrong with ice cream made from fresh ingredients from local dairy farms. That’s exactly what this place does. They are always trying to create new and innovative flavors, like banana pudding, sea salt caramel fudge, and coconut almond crunch. My favorite is the white mint chip. Simple and delicious!
1012o Green Level Church Rd., Suite #208, Cary
This local family business is woman-owned and serves national award-winning ice cream. The lemon basil sorbet is a family favorite and perfectly refreshing in the summer.
Located across campus at these locations.
You simply can’t be an NCSU fan without having tried their ice cream, made right on State’s campus with fresh milk from NCSU raised cows. The students, and myself, swear by the Wolf Tracks flavor, complete with peanut butter cups and fudge. And bonus, you can also check them out in the fall at the state fair. Win-win!
Multiple locations across the Triangle.
Personally, I saved the best for last with this local staple. One can argue that it’s not technically ice cream, but after you try one of their famous “concretes,” it won’t matter. Every day they make fresh vanilla and chocolate flavors, which are the basis for thousands of combinations that can be made. If you can think it up, they can probably make it. My favorite is chocolate mixed with marshmallow and a scoop of M&M’s added in. Heaven. And bonus: be sure to check out their flavor of the day. Trust me.
