Wake Up & Read Book Drive Kick Off : Jan 30th. 2:00-3:30pm – Quail Ridge Books & Music.  Come out and celebrate literacy for all children by helping to collect a goal of 110,000 books.  Celebrity readers, face painting, art activities & appearances by Ruben the Wake Up & Read Rooster along with some favorite Disney Princesses.

Citizen Science Saturdays: Jan. 30th. 10:30-11:30. Prairie Ridge, Raleigh.  Enjoy this science walk collecting & entering data with a naturalist. Topics vary from birds, ladybugs, tree budding, pond dragonflies, etc.

Family Night Skate: Jan. 30th. 7:00-10pm. Jellybeans, Cary.  Break out your best skating moves for this event dedicated to family fun!

Raleigh Little Theatre’s Storytellers To Go! Presents American Fairy Tale:  Jan. 30th. 2:00pm. Halle Cultural Arts Center, Apex.  Enjoy this whimsical world of Balloon Pickers, Circus Clowns, train engines & many more colorful characters. FREE event.

Rockin’ the Forest Concert Series: Jan. 30th. 8:00-10pm. Wake Forest Renaissance Centre for the Arts. Features alternative country trio, Tres Chicas.

The Wall by Pink Floyd presented by the School of Rock: Jan. 30th. 2:30pm. The Cary Theatre.  Presented by School of Rock. Students perform iconic rock songs from this album.

15th Annual African-American Cultural Celebration:  Jan. 30th. 10:30-4:30pm. Museum of History, Raleigh. Over 75 Musicians, storytellers, dancers, authors, artist & chefs all helping to kickoff Black History Month.

Chinese New Year Celebration: Jan. 30th. 10:00-5pm. State Fairgrounds, Raleigh.  Celebrate the Chinese New Year with over 40 exhibits, 50+ performances, over a dozen food stands and lots of fun activities for kids.   Did you know this year is the year of the Monkey!?!

LEGO-palooza:  Jan. 30th-31st. Morehead Planetarium, Chapel Hill.  Forts, amusement parks, landmarks and more amazing LEGO displays from the NC LEGO User Group.

Winter Food Truck Rodeo (NEW DATE!): Jan. 31st. 12:00-4pm.  Durham Central Park. Enjoy over 50 Food Trucks along with live music for the band, Plan B.
