We’re already getting weekend vibes here at RMB anticipating lots of family fun happening in and around Raleigh. From Marbles’ Kick-Off to Kindergarten to National Honey Bee events, outdoor movies and movie there is something for all ages to enjoy.

Saturday, August 18th. 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. Marbles Kids Museum, Downtown Raleigh
Help your rising kindergartner practice and celebrate the first day of school with purposeful play-like practice by hopping on a school bus, participating in PE or music class, lining up for lunch, exploring circle time and so much more! Letterland characters will be about; as well as educators available to encourage caregivers, answer questions and provide take-home resources. This annual event is FREE for rising kindergarteners and their families and is presented by Marbles in partnership with North Carolina’s National College Savings Program and Wake County Public School System. Friday, August 17th. Koka Booth Amphitheatre, Cary. 8:30 p.m. (Gates open at 7:00 p.m.)
Grab your lawn chairs, picnic baskets and blankets and enjoy a movie under the stars at Koka Booth. Cost: $5, kids 12 years and under are free. Learn more and purchase tickets online here.
Saturday, August 18th. Historic Yates Mill County Park, Raleigh. 1:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m.
FREE family program. Celebrate National Honey Bee Day by exploring pollinators and how these beneficial insects pollinate flowers and help our gardens grow. Discover how beehives work and explore the ways that bee-keepers have historically housed and cared for their hives. See what a bee sees through a fun field exploration. Learn more here.
Saturday, August 18th. NC Museum of Art, Raleigh. 10:15 a.m. & 1:00 p.m.
Get creative and a family by designing and using natural dyes to create fabric art inspired by African textiles on view at the museum. Dress to get messy! This event is geared towards families with children ages 5-11 years. Cost: $6 members, $8 non-members. Learn more here.
Saturday, August 18th. Museum of Life & Science, Durham. 10:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.
Enter the Insectarium and celebrate the Honey Bee with honey tasting, explore beekeeping tools, take bee-themed crafts to take home along with swag and much more. This experience is included in your museum admission.
Saturday, August 18th. Dorothea Dix Park, Raleigh. 8:30 p.m. (Doors open at 7:30 p.m.)
FREE event. The City of Raleigh is bringing an outdoor movie experience with Jurassic Park. Bring your lawn chairs and picnic baskets. Don’t forget to bring your wallet because Food Trucks will be serving. Make sure you RSVP to this event here.
Saturday, August 18th. JD Lewis Multipurpose Center, Raleigh. 10:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.
FREE admission and free activities for families featuring local businesses and resources bringing arts and crafts activities, face painting, laser tag, bounce houses, a photo booth, demonstrations, special guests and more.
Ends September 3rd. NC Museum of Natural Science, Downtown Raleigh
If you haven’t been to this hands-on interactive exhibit then what are you waiting for?!? Visitors of all ages will enjoy finding challenges through interactive mazes, brain teaser tables, tricky mirrors, black-lit Cosmic game rooms and so much more. Cost: $5 per person. Members get in free.
