The leaves are changing, holiday events are lined up and family outings are being planned.  Start your holiday season with a few of our favorite events happening in and around Raleigh.

Guide to November Events in and around Raleigh

Through the Month of November: Explore the hidden world of the superpowered bug at Amazing Mighty Micro Monsters 3D Movie at the NC Museum of Natural Sciences.

Nov. 6th – 9th:  Get artsy at Marbles and participate in Artrageous Printmaking Pattern Play.

Nov. 8th:  Shop local at Vend Raleigh’s Holiday Sip & Shop at The Mayton Inn.

Nov. 10th: Celebrate Veteran’s Day with  NC Veteran’s Day Parade in Downtown Raleigh.

Nov. 10th:  Family Wildlife Series: Tag You’re It!  is a FREE program in honor of America Recycles Day learning the ins and outs of plastic recycling while creating a cool ornament, backpack tag, or pendant out of repurposed plastic.

Nov. 10th:  Celebrate the season with a Christmas Tree and Menorah Lighting. Kids can enjoy face painting, bounce houses, a trackless train and more at Sparkle Night at Parkside Town Commons.

Nov. 10: Create your own Georgia O’Keefe inspired floral paintings at Family Fun Saturdays: Pop Art Poppies at the NC Museum of Art.

Nov. 10th – 16th:  The NC Zoo is showing their appreciation to all Veterans offering military free admission and $2 off admission for up to six accompanying guests during their Military Appreciation Week at the Zoo.

Nov. 11th: Choo, choo! Hop aboard a train to unplug and slow down at New Hope Valley’s Railway Slow Down Sunday.

Runs until Nov. 13th:  Enjoy Animated Storytelling with OMAi Mapping Stories with interactive animation projections on notable buildings throughout Raleigh. Some locations will feature food trucks, performers, music and more.

Nov. 13th:  Go on a turkey trot, explore turkey tales, practice your best turkey call and much more at Crowder County Park’s Nature Families: Turkey Tales.

Nov. 16th:  Start your holiday celebration with Waverly Place’s Tree Lighting Ceremony featuring holiday treats and beverages, aerialist acts, a festive photo booth, and visits from Santa and holiday friends.

Nov. 16th – 18th: Sledding slopes, paintscaping, carolers, train rides, a story time with Santa and more at Park West Village’s Winter Wonderland.

Nov. 17th:  Join the official kick-off to the holiday season with the annual Raleigh Christmas Parade.

Nov. 17th: Gather the family for the 23rd Annual American Indian Heritage Celebration at the NC Museum of History. Free event with music, storytellers, dancers, artists and more celebrating North Carolina’s Indian culture.

Nov. 17th:  Bring a blanket and chairs and look through telescopes to view the planets and even catch the Leonids Meter Shower at Skywatching at Dix Park.

Nov. 17th:  Annual Tree Lighting at North Hills with snow slopes, kids crafts, a trackless train, bounce houses, a vendor village and a visit from Santa Claus.

Nov. 17th:  Kick off the holiday season with the Lighting of the Tree at Lafayette Village with a visit from Santa, carolers, a dance scene from the Nutcracker, a horse and carriage ride and much more.

Nov. 17th:  Fun for pups and their owners at Pop-PupAlooza Dog Park at Dix Park. Enjoy pet-themed vendors, raffles, learn about pet safety and much more.

Nov. 17th – 18th:  Raleigh Repticon & Exotic Animal Show is back at the NC State Fairgrounds at the Scott Building showcasing your favorite scaley creatures!

Nov. 18th: Learn about the fall tradition of corn shucking and make your own corn husk doll at the Seasons of the Farm: Corn Shucking at Historic Yates Mill County Park.

Nov. 18th:  Celebrate art, science, hiking and more at the annual self-paced walking challenge during Triangle Volksmarch.

Nov. 18th:  Run for fun with your pup or run for time at the SPCA of Wake County Santa Paws 5K & Fun Run.

Nov. 19th – 21st: Join this collaborative community art project and celebrate what you’re thankful for at the Art in the Park: Thankfulness Project at Historic Yates Mill County Park.

Nov. 21st:  Enjoy a family fun concert with the  NC Symphony’s The Merry Elf.  Arrive early for a Santa visit, instrument zoo and festive face-painting.

Nov. 23:  Free art-making activities at NC Museum of Art. Create a monochromatic work of art at Pop-Up Art Black Friday . 

Nov. 23rd – Dec. 24th:  Enjoy your favorite TV classic on the stage, Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer: The Musical, at The Fletcher Opera Theatre in Downtown Raleigh.

Nov. 23rd – Jan. 13th:  NC Chinese Lantern Festival at Koka Booth Amphitheatre in Cary returns for evenings of gorgeous light displays, live cultural performances, holiday treats and much more.

Nov 27th: Leave your GPS at home and learn how to find your way around with a compass and map at   Adventures in Orienteering at Lake Crabtree County Park.

Nov. 27th – Dec. 2nd:  Aladdin and His Winter Wish at the Memorial Auditorium is bringing this holiday-themed Aladdin fairytale with soaring adventure, family-friendly magic, comedic twists, contemporary music and more.

Nov. 30th:  Enjoy holiday snacks from vendors, visits from Santa, holiday music and more at the Downtown Raleigh Tree Lighting at the Duke Energy Center for the Performing Arts.
