Your Guide to the Month of May in Raleigh
May 4th :: Start May off with a sweet treat. Celebrate Strawberry Day at the State Farmers Market in Raleigh.
May 4th :: “May the 4th Be With You!” at Movie by Moonlight at Dorothea Dix Park. Bring your lawn chair and blanket and watch the prequel to the original Star Wars classic.
May 4th – 7th :: Shop for your families’ favorite books at the annual Wake County Public Library Festival of Reading and Book Sale.
May 4th, 11th & 18th :: Midtown Beach Music is back at North Hills every Thursday evening until August 17th. Enjoy warm summer nights with beach music and shag dancing.
May 4th, 11th & 18th :: Every Thursday evening until June 8th bring your lawn chair or beach blanket and enjoy Live in The District Music in the outdoor venue in front of Stone Theatre.
May 6th :: Raleigh’s Pullen Park will be transformed into Letterland to celebrate preschool and elementary school students.
May 6th :: Marbles Bike Rodeo on the Roll with RPD Bike Patrol. Bring your wheels, helmet and enjoy an afternoon of bike safety, tinker time, art on the move and more.
May 7th :: Pop-Up Art: Sculpture at the NC Museum of Art is providing an afternoon of free art-making activities for all ages.
May 13th :: “The Sneetches” and “Green Eggs & Ham” come alive at An Afternoon of Dr. Seuss – North Carolina’s Young People’s Concert Series. Kids can enjoy activities from The NC Symphony Instrument Zoo in the lobby one hour before each performance.
May 13th & 14th :: Art in the Park – Summer Blooms at Yates Millpond is celebrating the park’s natural beauty with a community art project. Make paper flowers and help decorate the center. Free event for families.
May 19th – 21st :: A weekend of visual and performing arts along with vendors, food trucks, a kidszone and more at Artsplosure – Raleigh Arts Festival.
May 20th :: New & Expecting moms, new adoptive moms, new foster moms or women planning on growing their families soon are invited to our annual Bloom Event. Get your tickets for an afternoon of baby bump photos, an expert panel, mommy-in-chair massage, lots of swag & giveaways, mocktails, cravings small bites and so much more.
May 20th :: West Cary’s Fest in the West festival with an arts & crafts village, beer garden, food truck rodeo, a kidzone, contests and live music. FREE event.
May 20th :: Learn about the life of the longline pine at the annual Longleaf Festival with interactive exhibits, visits with live animals, rides on the Longleaf Express, crafts, and games.
May 20th :: Bring to life two-dimensional puppets inspired by tales of heroes, gods and goddesses in classical poetry at Family Fun Saturdays: Black – Figure Puppetry at the NC Museum of Art.
May 20th :: Food, music, carnival rides, entertainment, antique farm equipment and more at the annual Got to Be NC Festival.

May 20th – 21st :: PAW Patrol is going live at the DPAC at the PAW Patrol Live! “Race to the Rescue!”
May 25th :: Sensory Friendly Night at the Museum of Natural Sciences gives families an evening to explore the museum in a quieter environment along with meeting scientists and live animals.
May 25th :: Help bag thousands of meal to help feed kids and their families at the Food Bank of Central & Eastern North Carolina Sort-A-Rama Day of Service.
May 26th – 29th :: Celebrate Memorial Weekend at the annual Freedom Balloon Festival enjoying hot air balloons along with a merchant, arts and crafts village.
May 26th – June 30th :: Movies are back in Downtown Raleigh at the PNC Downtown Raleigh Movie Series. Enjoy a FREE night of family fun under the stars.
