Last year, we hosted our first Costco Mom Hour. I wasn’t sure what to expect from the event and confess, prior to it, I was not a Costco member. During that first Mom Hour, I signed up along with dozens of others moms that were in attendance. Since then, I have used my family’s Costco membership for so much more than toilet paper and paper towels!
The wine prices are pretty tough to beat and the Kirkland brand actually bottles from some well-praised California wineries. I was also introduced to the chicken pot pies by RMB’s Editorial Manager, Jenny, and I have been hooked ever since! Who doesn’t love chicken pot pie? Especially on these chilly fall nights! My all-time favorite purchase so far though, was the industrial blender that my husband snagged for me last Christmas. I am a major smoothie maker and had burned out my last model. I literally use this one almost every day and it is also great for things like soups, sauces and pestos.
The bottom line? Costco is not just another warehouse store. There really is so much to offer and their stock is always changing, so in addition to the Kirkland brand items that will become your fan favorites, there are always tons of great gift items and secret scores to find.
This year, it was clear that I was not alone in my thinking. Moms love Costco. We hosted in two locations this year; Raleigh and Apex. Our attendance more than quadrupled from last years event and we had hundreds of moms coming through the doors to either take a quiet morning to shop or sign up for a new membership through our exclusive City Moms Blog Network deal. The great thing about this event is that even if hundreds of people were coming through the doors, it didn’t feel like it because the warehouse is so big. It really was a great opportunity to explore the store and shop!
Costco put out a delicious spread for us and moms and their kiddos had the opportunity to enjoy a little breakfast before they shopped. It was a lot of fun to see so many local families sitting at the tables enjoying a morning together.
Our littlest shoppers took some time out to pose with the infamous giant teddy bears. I bet they also strolled the toy aisles to eye some wish list items for Santa. After all, how could he resist these cute faces?
I personally had to go back to work after the event, but I enjoyed taking an hour or so out of my day to meet some new local moms. I of course picked up some office necessities and snacks for desk before I left!
Thank you to all who came out and joined us! If you have not checked out Costco yet, be sure to stop by ask about membership. In the Triangle, we have locations in Raleigh, Apex and Durham.
